Do lessons take place on Bank Holidays?
Handside Music does not run lessons on Bank Holidays as standard. However, you can request extra lessons on Bank Holidays, which we'll happily provide if we are available.
Are lessons available during Half Terms or School Holidays?
Again, lessons do not run as standard during school holidays. However, you are welcome to arrange individual lessons during half terms and or school holidays, subject to our availability. We are generally available most holidays.
We do in fact recommend having a few lessons over the summer holidays in particular to keep up momentum and progress.
How does invoicing/billing work?
Lesson fees are invoiced once per half term before or near the beginning of term.
Payment is due within 7 days of the invoice date.
Do I need to re-enrol myself or the student each half term?
No, students' lessons and lesson slots are automatically reserved on a rolling basis unless you tell us otherwise!
We do sometimes check before the beginning of a new school year.
What is the notice needed to end lessons permanently?
To cancel your child's music lessons permanently, a minimum of four weeks' notice is needed, given before the start of a half term or holiday.
What notice do you need for cancelling individual lessons?
If your child is unwell or unable to attend a lesson, we do need at least 48 hours' notice. Several days or more is however preferable as we are getting busy!
If I give 48+ hours' notice, what happens?
We will do their best to reschedule the session but given the tight timetable, it may not be possible to do it in the same week. If a lesson cannot be rescheduled AND if over 48 hours' notice has been given, then we will credit any fees to future lessons.
What happens if I give fewer than 48 hours' notice to cancel a lesson?
Sadly, due to packed timetables, we cannot refund or reschedule lessons cancelled at fewer than 48 hours' notice. We're afraid this includes lessons cancelled for reasons like sickness/illness, travel delays, medical appointments, etc.
